A regularly scheduled basketball match for the 14th round of the Euroleague championship between Olympiacos BC and Fenerbahce Beko, set for Thursday evening at the Peace & Friendship Indoor Stadium, has been cancelled due to a severe storm front that is battering the greater Athens-Piraeus area since earlier in the afternoon.

Flash flooding and major traffic congestion in the Greek capital’s streets and runoff gulleys was evident hours before the game.

The decision for the cancellation was officially taken by relevant Alternate Sports Minister Yannis Vroutsis and immediately forwarded to both clubs.

According to Euroleague announcement, it “will evaluate with the affected teams the best possible options to reschedule the game based on available dates. Further information will be released in the coming days.”
