The European Commission is set to present tomorrow its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), i.e. the EU budget for the years 2028 to 2035 – including the sticking points and guiding principles.
Mitsotakis will have migration and natural disasters on his agenda at the meeting, which is a follow-up to the Council meeting of 14-15 December where EU leaders discussed revising the MFF in an effort to create long-term support for Ukraine and to add funding for STEP
Germany, Sweden, and the Netherlands disagree with the new proposal, indicating a willingness for improvements. On the other hand, Hungary disagrees with the necessity of revising the multiannual financial framework and opposes finding funds for Ukraine through it.
