The Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) agreed with Mastercard to participate in the latter’s Tourism Innovation Hub, an international Center for Tourism Innovation, based in Madrid to promote sustainable tourism development and the contribution of tourism to social cohesion.

Tourism Innovation Hub has partnered with governments, and public and private entities worldwide, including Spain, Croatia, Costa Rica, and others, utilizing both Mastercard’s technology and data insights, with the aim of developing a new sustainable business model for the benefit of all stakeholders in the tourism industry.

Following the signing of the agreement, GNTO Secretary-General Dimitris Fragakis stated: “By joining the Mastercard Tourism Innovation Hub, we are taking a decisive step to enhance innovation in our country’s tourism sector. By entering this network, which includes significant global destinations, we gain a strong advantage in the international environment for the benefit of all involved in the tourism industry. I would like to thank Mastercard and its executives for their trust!”.

In her statement, Solveig Hatton underlined that Mastercard believed that collaboration between the private and public sectors was essential to promote innovation, expressing her delight in welcoming GNTO as a member of the Tourism Innovation Hub. She continued stressing that the company looked forward to leveraging its technological expertise and data insights to support GNTO’s work in shaping a more sustainable and inclusive tourism sector.
