US President Donald Trump arrived late to the G7 leaders’ meeting in Evian-les-Bains, France, where he greeted those in the room with a wisecrack upon entering, declaring: “I’m the boss.”
He then turned to the journalists and photographers present in the room and joked that they could stay for the session, before they were ushered out per standard protocol.
Meanwhile, G7 leaders expressed their support for the interim agreement between the United States and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. In a joint statement, they welcomed the deal, underscoring its significance for regional stability and the prevention of nuclear proliferation.
The agreement, which is expected to be formally signed on Friday, June 19, is being presented by the parties involved as a major step toward de-escalating tensions in the Middle East.
Trump: “Nobody Knows the Iran Deal, but It’s Very Strong”
Earlier in the day, Trump stated that “nobody knows what the deal with Iran is,” yet went on to describe it as a very “strong deal.” His remarks were made on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, where international relations and the geopolitical balance of power took center stage.
Trump stressed that “the alternative to a deal would have been a global recession,” and added sharply that “stupid people want a global recession. They are stupid people. The strait would never have opened.”
