In Case You Haven’t Seen The Infamous 20-Point Peace Plan

From talks with Russia and Ukraine, the framework aims to secure Ukraine’s sovereignty, security guarantees, and economic recovery, while addressing disputed territory, the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, and humanitarian concerns

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met U.S. President Donald Trump in Florida to discuss a draft 20-point framework intended to form the basis of a future peace agreement with Russia. Zelenskiy described the plan as a potential roadmap to end the war, following weeks of negotiations that modified an earlier 28-point draft.

The points that have largely been agreed upon focus on reaffirming Ukraine’s sovereignty, establishing robust security guarantees, and outlining economic and development support.

Key Security and Sovereignty Measures

  1. Ukraine’s sovereignty is reaffirmed.

  2. A full non-aggression agreement between Russia and Ukraine, monitored via space-based systems, will ensure long-term compliance.

  3. Ukraine will receive strong security guarantees

  12. Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant Kyiv and Washington differ on its operation. The U.S. proposes joint management with Russia and Ukraine, with Americans as chief managers. Ukraine prefers a 50-50 partnership with the U.S., splitting energy output equally.

  13. Educational programs to promote tolerance, eliminate prejudice, and protect minority languages will be implemented.

  14. Territory Russia demands Ukraine withdraw troops from areas it still controls in eastern Donetsk, while Ukraine seeks to freeze current battle lines. U.S. proposals include demilitarized zones and a free economic zone in Donetsk.

  15. No alterations following agreement on territorial arrangements.
  16. Russia will not obstruct Ukraine’s use of the Dnipro River and the Black Sea for commerce, with demilitarization of the Kinburn Spit.
