A new Metron Analysis poll conducted for Greek broadcaster MEGA shows a notable rise in Donald Trump’s popularity among Greek voters, even though negative opinions toward the former U.S. president continue to outweigh positive ones.

According to the survey, 54% of respondents said they have a negative view of Trump, compared to 34% with a positive view. Although unfavorable opinions remain the majority, the trend marks a significant shift from previous surveys — when positive views never exceeded 26%, and negative opinions never dropped below 66%.

Right-Leaning Voters Lead the Surge in Support

As expected, support for Trump is strongest among right-wing and center-right voters, with 64% and 53% respectively expressing positive opinions.

By contrast, enthusiasm is far lower among those identifying as left-wing (10%) or center-left (24%).

The data suggests that Trump’s assertive foreign policy style and his global media presence continue to resonate with conservative segments of Greek society, even as skepticism remains widespread among the general public.

Views on the Gaza Conflict

The same poll also gauged Greek public opinion on the ongoing conflict in Gaza. A majority (54%) of respondents said they believe Israelis and Palestinians cannot live together peacefully, while 43% said coexistence is possible.

When broken down by political orientation, centrist voters were the most pessimistic, with 60% saying peaceful coexistence is not achievable. They were followed by left-wing respondents (58%) and right-wing voters (55%).

A Shift in Attitudes

While Trump remains a polarizing figure in Greece, the findings point to a clear softening of attitudes toward him compared to recent years.

Analysts suggest the shift may reflect broader international dynamics, including perceptions of U.S. power, leadership style, and global events shaping public opinion in Europe.
