Hollywood star Brad Pitt has been lighting up the cobbled alleys of Hydra in recent days, as filming for his latest project officially got underway on Clean Monday. The first takes stretched on for several hours, marking the beginning of what promises to be a high-profile production on the cosmopolitan Saronic island.
Effortlessly blending into the island’s laid-back rhythm, Pitt has been spotted strolling through Hydra’s narrow streets, greeting both residents and visitors with disarming ease. According to a local resident participating in the shoot, the Oscar-winning actor made his first on-set appearance just days ago, leaving a lasting impression. “He’s a simple, approachable person — not distant at all,” the resident remarked, as reported by, Greece’s state broadcaster, ERT.

Islanders say the international star has also developed a particular fondness for Hydra’s famed almond sweets, or amygdalota, which have reportedly become his snack of choice during filming breaks.
The production has placed Hydra’s rich culinary heritage and history at the heart of the film. Scenes are being shot at the iconic pastry shop Tsagkaris and the old taverna Lulu, both of which have been carefully transformed to evoke the atmosphere of the 1970s.

On Clean Monday afternoon, Pitt was seen at a rugged beach on the island, while earlier rehearsals focused on staging an artificial storm. In preparation, the crew installed special tartan flooring to ensure safety during the demanding sequences. Numerous stunt performers are involved in the scenes, though the actor himself did not appear in those particular shots.

Following the Hydra schedule, filming will move to Nea Makri, a seaside town in northeastern Attica, between March 11 and 13. According to reports, the production company OneFor has formally applied for shooting permits, detailing specific locations and timeframes.
