A Los Angeles doctor has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for supplying ketamine to actor Matthew Perry, who died in 2023 at the age of 54. The case is part of a broader investigation into a hidden Hollywood drug network linked to the actor’s substance use.
Salvador Plasencia, identified as the primary supplier in the case, pleaded guilty over the summer to four charges related to ketamine distribution. Prosecutors had recommended a three-year sentence, although the charges carried potential penalties of up to 40 years.
The sentencing comes after Perry’s family urged the court for a strict punishment, describing Plasencia as “the number one responsible” and recounting their struggle to understand why he continued to supply the actor with narcotics.
Plasencia was one of five defendants in the investigation. The others—including another doctor, his assistant, and two individuals who provided the fatal dose—have also pleaded guilty and are expected to be sentenced in the coming months.
