The well-known life coach and partner of Jennifer Aniston is set to visit Greece in late November, and he has a special reason to feel at home. His father and grandfather came from Athens and the island of Lemnos, and Curtis says he is proud of the Greek side of his family.

In an interview with Giorgos Satsidis for Alpha TV, Jim Curtis also discussed the rare spinal cord condition that at one point left him unable to walk, as well as how he now understands love and his relationship with Aniston.

A family story rooted in Greece

Greece holds an important place in Curtis’s family history. His father spent much of his youth in the country before the family relocated to Boston. While his mother’s side has French and Irish roots, Curtis says he feels a particularly strong bond with his Greek heritage.

Asked what he loves most about Greek culture, he pointed to family and passion. For him, the emphasis on family, the Greek temperament, and the intensity with which people experience their emotions are what tie him to the country.

Illness as a turning point

Curtis spoke openly about the serious health ordeal he faced when a rare condition affected his spinal cord and, for a time, took away his ability to walk. Through that difficult experience, he said, he gained something he considers far more valuable: a deeper sense of humility.

The experience ultimately reshaped how he views his professional mission. As he explained, it gave him a clearer understanding of his purpose in life and drove him to help people going through difficult or critical moments.

Love without proving his worth

Speaking on a deeply personal note about his relationship with Aniston, Curtis said love entered his life at a point when he no longer felt the need to prove his worth through a partner.

The Athens event

Curtis will appear at the Megaron Athens Concert Hall on Sunday, November 22, 2026, at 1 p.m., for a 90-minute interactive talk. The event will focus on self-awareness, the beliefs that shape our choices, and the inner obstacles that often stand in the way of change.

The program will include an experiential exercise as well as a question-and-answer session with the audience. Afterward, a separate Meet & Greet will be held for 80 people, available with an additional ticket that includes a signed copy of his new book.
