Hollywood star Tom Holland can’t stop singing the praises of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, Odyssey.
Holland, who takes on the role of Telemachus, Odysseus’ son, in the long-awaited adaptation of Homer’s timeless saga, told AFP that the script is “the best I’ve ever read.”
“Chris is a true collaborator,” Holland said. “He knows exactly what he wants, but it’s never an environment where you can’t bring ideas or explore your character in new ways.”
Following the global triumph of Oppenheimer, Nolan’s next cinematic venture has already set the industry abuzz.
Odyssey: A mega-production with a glittering cast
At the heart of the story is Matt Damon as Odysseus, navigating his perilous journey home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Anne Hathaway plays the steadfast Penelope, Zendaya embodies the goddess Athena, Robert Pattinson steps in as Hermes, and Charlize Theron transforms into the sorceress Circe.
The ensemble doesn’t stop there: Lupita Nyong’o, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, and John Leguizamo also join the star-studded lineup.
Holland: “The greatest work of my life”
In an interview with GQ Sports earlier this summer, Holland described filming Odyssey as “the greatest work of my life, without a doubt” and “the best experience I’ve ever had on a film set.”
“I think this movie will be a completely new kind of experience for audiences,” he added.
“Working with Chris, getting to know him and Emma [Thomas], was incredible. I’ve never seen anyone work the way they do. To have a front-row seat, to be part of the process, to collaborate with a true master of his craft—it was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
Meanwhile, Holland hasn’t left his superhero roots behind. He’s currently filming his fourth solo Spider-Man adventure, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, telling AFP that he still feels “just like the first time” every time he puts on the suit.
Release dates
Odyssey is set to hit theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026, via Universal Pictures. Just two weeks later, Holland will return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, scheduled for release on July 31, 2026, from Sony.
