Storm Adel, which battered Greece in recent days, is finally subsiding, leaving behind widespread disruption across several regions.
Sunday brings a welcome shift to generally fair weather, offering a short-lived window for recovery before a new wave of severe conditions arrives later in the week. Meteorologists expect three to four days of relative calm “until another low-pressure system sweeps in from Thursday, bringing southerly winds and heavy rain.”
In the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese, clouds, showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to linger until the afternoon. Elsewhere, scattered clouds and light local rain will persist mainly in western and southern areas.
Visibility will be limited in parts of the mainland during early morning and evening hours. Winds will blow from the west and northwest at 3–4 Beaufort, reaching 5–6 in the south. Temperatures will peak at 14°C in northern Greece, 16–18°C in central and western regions, and up to 20°C in the southern islands.
Outlook for the Week
Monday
Cloud cover will gradually increase from the west, with only light showers expected in the mountains of Crete. Morning and evening fog may affect inland areas. Winds will remain light in the west and westerly at 3–4 Beaufort in the east. Temperatures will edge upward, reaching 14–16°C in the north, 16–18°C in central regions, up to 19°C in the south, and 19–21°C across the eastern and southern islands.
Tuesday
Partly cloudy skies will prevail, thickening in the west where the Ionian may see light rain from midday. Winds will remain light, shifting to southeasterly in the Ionian at 3–4 Beaufort, rising to 5 later in the north. Temperatures will climb slightly in western Greece.
Wednesday
Clouds will build first over the Ionian and later across western, central and southern regions, bringing local showers and isolated storms—particularly in the Ionian. Rainfall will intensify by afternoon in the west and south. Southeasterly winds will reach 3–5 Beaufort, up to 6 in the Ionian.
Thursday
Widespread cloudiness and rain will return nationwide, with sporadic thunderstorms. Southeasterly winds will strengthen to 4–6 Beaufort and temporarily reach 7 at sea. Temperatures will rise slightly in the south.
