From the Greek National Opera to the Embassy Theater, and from the Athens Concert Hall to Technopolis and the SNFCC, Athens transforms into a sparkling map of children’s productions this Christmas season.
Classic tales such as The Nutcracker and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory meet fresh, imaginative stories about friendship, acceptance and wonder. Shadow theatre, puppetry, musicals, dance and international shows promise young audiences a journey into magical worlds.

At the EMBASSY Theater, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory returns for a second year in George Valaris’ direction, blending Roald Dahl’s beloved book with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman’s celebrated songs. Shows run throughout the holiday season.

The Municipal Theater of Piraeus hosts two family creations:
— In Motion: A Statue on the Run, directed by Danae Mega, premieres 7 December.

— Marilyn, the musical tale by Tasoula Eptakili about bullying, kindness and courage, runs from 2 November.

At the Greek National Opera, Stella Michailidou’s exuberant Isadora Duck takes the big stage at the SNFCC with performances on 7, 14, 21, 24, 28 December 2025 and 3–4 January 2026.

Meanwhile, the inventive shadow-opera Karagiozis Rigoletto arrives at the Alternative Stage from 14 December 2025 to 4 January 2026.

The National Theatre revisits Lewis Carroll with Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, directed by Georgia Mavragani, at the Olympia Theatre, from 26 October.

At Vembo Theater, The Nutcracker – The Christmas Musical enchants audiences once again, premiering 6 December.

The Alpha Theater presents The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and the visually rich Sinbad the Sailor, both part of its festive program 26 December–4 January.

At Porta Theater, Xenia Kalogeropoulou’s classic Eliza returns in Thomas Moschopoulos’ playful new staging with holiday performances 26 December–6 January.

The Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation hosts The Word Tailor for only ten performances between 23 December and 6 January.

Technopolis becomes home to the DEI (PPC) Christmas Factory (22 November 2025–6 January 2026) featuring The Snow Queen, Foivos Delivorias’ musical Tell Me Your Name, puppet shows and festive shadow-theatre classics.

At the Christmas Theater, two major productions unfold: Carmen Rougeri’s The Gods of Olympus and the Birth of the World from 15 November, and the dazzling The Magical Christmas of Pinocchio 17–31 December 2025.

The Athens Concert Hall presents the Odessa National Opera Ballet in Thumbelina 5–7 December, the grand musical Aladdin and the Three Christmas Wishes 20 December 2025–5 January 2026, and Elias Karellas’ festive Karagiozis in Cuba 19 December–5 January.

At the SNFCC Lighthouse, Urgent Christmas runs 21 December 2025–6 January 2026.

Finally, the Athens Conservatory stages Prokofiev’s Cinderella 23 December–4 January, and hosts Eugene Trivizas’ Christmas Stories on 26–28 December and 2–4 January.
