After 15 years of restoration and maintenance works the scaffolding has been removed from the Parthenon temple atop the Acropolis in central Athens, allowing visitors and onlookers from afar to gaze at the quintessence of classical antiquity unobstructed.

The last metaling framework was taken down from the west side of the Parthenon late last month, allowing a clear view of the entire monument from the side of the Roman-era Herodes Atticus Odeon, which lies at the foot of the Acropolis’ south side.
Maintenance and restoration work, however, will continue in the near future, with more flexible and smaller platforms to be employed around the structure.
