Greece is Guest Country at Istanbul’s BASE 2026 Art Fair

Young Greek artists are invited to submit work for a special section at BASE 2026, one of Turkey's top contemporary art events, alongside 150+ Turkish creators

Greece will take center stage at BASE 2026, one of Turkey’s leading contemporary art events, after being named the fair’s guest country for the first time. The annual Istanbul exhibition draws around 20,000 visitors each year.

As part of this year’s edition, organizers will create a dedicated section showcasing contemporary Greek art, giving young Greek artists a chance to present their work to an international audience and connect with Turkey’s emerging art scene.

The open call is aimed at artists currently studying or who have graduated within the last decade from fine arts schools or related institutions in Greece.

Submissions can span a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • painting
  • photography
  • video
  • sculpture
  • ceramics
  • textile art
  • animation
  • graphic design
  • visual communication design
  • along with other forms of contemporary artistic expression.

How to Participate

Interested artists have until September 13, 2026, to submit a PDF portfolio including work samples, a CV, and contact information, with an Instagram link as an optional addition.

Greece’s participation in BASE 2026 is being supported by Trendyol, which is taking part as Grand Sponsor and Cultural Partner.

Through its Trendyol Art cultural program, the company has already supported more than 150 independent artists in Turkey while backing international contemporary art events such as Contemporary Istanbul, BASE, and the Turkish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.

The initiative aims to boost international visibility for emerging artists, encourage cross-cultural dialogue, and build new bridges between the contemporary art scenes of Greece and Turkey.
