Greek Co-Productions Spotlighted at the Berlinale

Filmmakers Giorgos Athanasiou and Giorgos Tsiantoulas have been chosen for the Berlinale Talents program, further highlighting the dynamic presence of Greek film professionals on the international stage.

Four films with strong Greek ties will feature in major sections of this year’s Berlinale, which opens next Thursday, 12 Feb. In the International Competition, two films will premiere at the Berlinale Palast. Emin Alper’s Salvation, co-produced by Giorgos Tsourgiannis (Horsefly), screens on Sunday, 15 Feb. at 3:15 pm. Later the same evening, at 9:30 pm, Anke Blondé’s DUST, co-produced by Giorgos Karnavas (Heretic), will make its debut.

The Perspectives section will host A Prayer for the Dying, directed by Dara Van Dusen and co-produced by Fenia Cossovitsa (Blonde) and Vicky Miha (asterisk*). The film premieres on Friday, 13 Feb. at 9:45 at the Bluemax Theater.

Meanwhile, the Forum Expanded program will present Uchronia by Greek filmmaker Phil Ieropoulos, produced by the director himself. The film premieres on Tuesday, 17 Feb. at 9:00 pm at Cinema Betonhalle @ Silent Green.

Greek participation extends beyond film screenings. In collaboration with Series Mania, the project Antiparos by George O’Neill-Zafeiropoulos and Alexandros Tsilifonis, produced by Tanweer Productions, has been selected for the CoPro Series platform.
