Steven Spielberg’ A.I. Artificial Intelligence (“Cinema with Freud”)

Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence will be screened this Sunday, March 31, at 5p.m. at Trianon cinema, as part of an initiative by the Hellenic Psychoanalytical Society aimed at bringing together various perspectives and interpretations of the cinematic experience. Following the screening, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion with psychoanalysts, artists, and scientists fostering dialogue and diverse insights into the film.

In Spielberg’s A.I., David, a highly advanced robotic boy, seeks to become human to win back the love of his his foster mother. His journey explores themes of acceptance and the yearning for genuine emotion,  offering a poignant exploration of identity and longing.

‘I am an Other and Ithaca is Elsewhere’, Art Exhibition

Thalatta.art gallery proudly presents the solo exhibition I am an Other and Ithaca is Elsewhere by Cypriot artist George Koumouros, held under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus. The recently inaugurated exhibition will run until May 18th, 2024. Offering visitors the unique opportunity to engage with a collection of timeless and uncanny landscapes. Koumouros’ artworks narrate the personal journeys of travelers, resonating with collective societal reflections and the struggles of isolated communities striving for self-improvement and a path to a better existence.

The exhibition is open during the gallery’s hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10 a.m.-8.pm, Wednesday and Saturday 10a.m. -6p.m.

Ruby Rushton, Stavros Niarchos Lighhouse

On Sunday, March 31 at 9p.m. Stavros Niarchos Lighthouse will host the Ruby Rushton, a prominent figure in the “new jazz” movement, currently at the forefront of the contemporary London music scene. Guided by the teachings of John Coltrane, the self-described experimental jazz quartet has paved the way for the next wave of jazz artists, making a significant impact with their debut album, “Two For Joy,” launched in 2015. The album featured a fusion of spiritual jazz, hip hop, afrobeat, post-bop and funk while retaining characteristics of the underground scene. The International music press has hailed the quartet’s fourth album (Ironside 2019) as one of the best jazz albums in recent years.

English Stand Up Comedy

The Athens English Comedy Club presents another English Stand-up Comedy show this Sunday, March 31, at 9p.m. Hosted at Eliart theater, this week’s comedy lineup features both experienced and new comedians, each delivering their funniest material. However, it’s on you to decide what tickles your funny bone. This week’s headliner is BBC Popcorn Award nominee Abigail Paul, originally from Florida, currently based in Germany. Come and laugh!
