The jobless rate in Greece fell in October 2025, according to Eurostat data, down to 8.6% from 9.7% in October 2024.
The total number of unemployed people in the country stood at 411,000, compared with 462,000 a year earlier and 410,000 in September.
In terms of youth unemployment (under 25), Greece ranked seventh in the EU at 18.8%, with Spain recording the highest rate at 25.3%, followed by Sweden (24.2%) and Finland (22%).
Greece posted the fourth-highest overall unemployment rate in the EU, behind Spain—which remained the bloc’s highest at 10.5%—and two Nordic countries: Finland at 9.8% and Sweden at 9.0%. The lowest rates were registered in Malta (3.1%) and Poland and the Czech Republic (both at 3.2%).
In October 2025, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the eurozone stood at 6.4%, unchanged from September but slightly higher than the 6.3% recorded in October 2024. The EU unemployment rate was 6.0%, also stable compared with September but up from 5.8% a year earlier.
Eurostat estimates that 13.351 million people in the EU, including 11.033 million in the eurozone, were unemployed in October 2025.
Compared with September 2025, unemployment increased by 32,000 in the EU but fell by 13,000 in the eurozone. Year-on-year, unemployment rose by 517,000 in the EU and by 308,000 in the eurozone.
