For many of us, the most delicious meals are the ones cooked at home using high-quality ingredients. And in Athens, preparing outstanding pasta dishes becomes much easier thanks to the city’s excellent specialty grocers — places that source products from small Greek producers, regional artisans, and select international brands.
We visited five of the best grocery stores in Athens, each offering unique pasta varieties, sauces, cheeses, and gourmet finds to elevate every bowl of pasta you cook.
- 4 Seasons Organic Food Market
A staple in central Athens for more than 20 years, 4 Seasons Organic Food Market was one of the first shops to introduce the city to organic living. Run by brothers Vasilis and Giorgos Souvatzoglou, the store reflects their lifelong commitment to natural, high-quality ingredients.
Wander through the shelves and you’ll find an impressive selection of artisanal Greek pasta — such as handmade black-truffle tagliatelle, twisted pasta with shiitake, tomato, and spinach, and tagliolini with pleurotus mushrooms and Florina peppers.
To boost your pasta dishes even further, the shop also offers extra virgin olive oil infused with chili, tomato sauce with honey and anise, and a standout fresh-produce section.

- Nora’s Deli
Located in the upscale neighborhood of Kolonaki, Nora’s Deli has been a favorite delicatessen for more than a decade. In 2019, it expanded with a second location that also functions as a small bistro.
Owners Nora and Petros Smatsis and Natalia Emmanouilidou curate an exceptional selection of Greek and international products. The pasta section includes Italian classics and Greek varieties from different regions, plus organic options, ancient-grain pasta, and traditional Greek trachanas.
The deli counters are just as tempting — think powders made from sweet onions or spicy peppers, caper leaves from Kythera, and a standout collection of Greek cheeses that will pair beautifully with your pasta creations.

- Karamanlidika Tou Fani
A beloved stop for both locals and visitors, Karamanlidika Tou Fani combines a traditional deli with a meze restaurant. Its history traces back to the 1960s, and today it remains famous for its premium cured meats and cheeses.
For pasta lovers, the star attractions include aged Greek cheeses and specialty cured meats — especially the renowned handmade Karamanlidiko pastirma made from beef, mutton, or even camel, along with traditional Politiko and Karamanlidiko soutzouki.
These bold flavors are perfect for pasta dishes that need a smoky, spicy, or deeply savory twist.

- Kapari
Warm and nostalgic, Kapari has been serving the neighborhood around Asklipiou Street for 15 years. Owner Natassa Perganti focuses on small Greek producers, with select imports rounding out the offerings.
The pasta selection is excellent, featuring truffle tagliatelle, dinkel (spelt) spaghetti, and whole-wheat penne. These pair wonderfully with the shop’s sauces, olives, roasted peppers, capers in vinegar, organic basil, and high-quality cheeses.
In spring and summer, Kapari also offers freshly prepared light meals made from its own ingredients — ideal for quick but flavorful lunches.

Behind the dining area you’ll find shelves filled with goods from more than 150 small Greek producers. Pasta lovers will enjoy options like twisted pasta with red pepper, spicy trachanas, and traditional flomaria from the island of Limnos.
