Greece’s Defense Ministry is stepping up its monitoring of developments in the wider Middle East, with Defense Minister Nikos Dendias convening a new high-level meeting Monday to assess the situation.

The meeting took place March 2, 2026, in the hall of the Council of Chiefs of General Staffs, the body that brings together the leadership of Greece’s armed forces. According to the ministry, all prescribed protocols remain in full implementation and the necessary security measures have been taken.

Daily 8 A.M. Security Briefings

Dendias decided that the high-level briefing will now be held daily at 8 a.m., underscoring the government’s focus on closely tracking regional developments.

The session included Deputy Defense Minister Athanasios Davakis; Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff
Dimitrios Choupis; General Secretary of the Ministry of National Defence Antonios Economou; Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff Lt. Gen. Georgios Kostidis; Chief of the Hellenic Navy General Staff Vice Admiral Dimitrios E. Kataras; and Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff Lieutenant General Dimosthenis Grigoriadis.

Also present were Maj. Gen. Emmanouil Chatzis, director of the Intelligence Branch (E’ Branch) of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, along with other senior competent officers.

During the meeting, it was reaffirmed that all established defense and security protocols are being fully applied. The ministry said that the necessary precautionary measures have already been implemented.
