Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, according to Greece’s Foreign Ministry.
During the call, Araghchi briefed Gerapetritis on the latest regional developments, with particular emphasis on ongoing talks concerning the Strait of Hormuz.
Gerapetritis stressed the importance of freedom of navigation and maritime security in the region.
The two foreign ministers agreed to maintain regular contacts at the bilateral technical level to consult on Greek positions. They also discussed their respective positions regarding Iran and agreed to keep communication channels open, making use of the newly appointed ambassadors of the two countries.
