Greece Transfers 16 Greeks Out of Iran to Azerbaijan

Greece's Foreign Ministry made the announcement, a day after helping 105 Greeks repatriate from Israel.

Greece’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has successfully transferred 16 Greek citizens and their family members from Iran to neighboring Azerbaijan under extremely difficult conditions.

The land evacuation was carried out with the coordination of the Foreign Ministry and the Greek embassies in Tehran and Baku.

Greek diplomatic authorities say that they are making every possible effort to ensure the safe repatriation of citizens from countries affected by the rapidly escalating conflict.

On Wednesday, the Greek government also confirmed the repatriation of 105 Greek nationals and their family members from Israel to Egypt, from where they were flown back to Greece.

The mission additionally facilitated the return of citizens from EU member states and third countries, including Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Georgia, Switzerland, the United States, Italy, Cyprus, Lithuania, Hungary, Portugal, Romania, and Sweden.

According to statements made by Greece’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, a total of 141 individuals were evacuated from Israel and Jerusalem.
