A joint Greek-French military exercise called “Argo-25,” which took place in the wider region of Volos and southern Evia, concluded on Wednesday, July 9.
The goal of the Greek-French military exercise was to enhance the level of interoperability between the Hellenic and French Armed Forces through the planning and execution of amphibious operations, as well as to raise combat readiness.
The Hellenic Armed Forces took part in a joint military exercise with personnel from the Special Warfare Command (SWC) of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), supported by Army Aviation assets, Navy units, and fighter aircraft from the Air Force, along with staff officers and liaison personnel.
The French Armed Forces participated with the amphibious assault ship LHD DIXMUDE and its assigned units, which included ground forces, a surface combatant, and helicopters.

During the exercise, a range of operational scenarios were carried out, including an amphibious landing, joint training between Special Forces and Special Operations Forces (SF–SOF), naval unit integration, and an Air Defence Exercise (ADEX) to counter aerial threats. The activity demonstrated a high level of interoperability and coordination between the two allied forces.
Athens and Paris maintain particularly close cooperation in the field of defense, with the two countries having signed an agreement that includes a mutual defense assistance clause. The ARGO exercise was first conducted in 2022.
