Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis urged citizens in a video posted on TikTok who were interested in voting via postal ballots in the upcoming European Election to register on the platform epistoliki.ypes.gov.gr.

“If you’re watching this video before Monday, listen very carefully. Also, if you’re working seasonally, studying in another city, or taking exams, if travel is difficult for you, or if you just want to go for a swim on June 9th, pay attention,” the Prime Minister said in the video.

Mitsotakis said that those interested in participating in the electoral process would have to submit their applications by Monday, April 29th.

The PM emphasized that postal voting did not only concern expatriates as Greek citizens anywhere could use the platform who did not want to be physically present at polling stations.
“For the FIRST time in our country’s history, citizens’ participation in elections is facilitated tangibly,” he added.

As the Prime Minister stressed, “This was especially significant for our elderly fellow citizens, citizens with disabilities, young people working seasonally, students, and students preparing for their nationwide exams.”

The Greek PM concluded his video message by pointing out that there were already 115,000 applications submitted for postal voting, noting it was very important, as participating in the electoral process, regardless of which party one supported, ultimately helped the democratic process. “Abstention is NOT an answer. You now have one more reason and an easier way to participate in elections,” he said.
