Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis participated in a high-level video conference on Ukraine on Wednesday, convened by the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. The meeting took place ahead of the much-anticipated meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian premier Vladimir Putin on Friday in Alaska.
During his address, Mitsotakis emphasized the crucial role of the United States and the importance of transatlantic relations in resolving the conflict. He stressed that achieving a ceasefire must remain the top priority and highlighted the significance of how any pause in fighting is implemented.
Mitsotakis also reaffirmed Greece’s longstanding position that international borders cannot be altered through violence and that decisions regarding Ukraine’s territory must be made solely by Ukraine.
Earlier in August, the Greek PM Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone call to discuss deepening cooperation on military support and post-war reconstruction.
