The ruling conservative party of New Democracy (ND) continues to hold a clear lead in voter intention against opposition parties, according to a poll carried out by Interview for news site Politic.
In more detail, in voter intention, ND garnered 23.2% of the respondents, followed by PASOK in second place with 11.6%, Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) at 8.2%, with the undecided vote at 21.6%.
The Tempi rail disaster and the OPEKEPE farming subsidy scandal have emerged as the dominant issues for Greek voters heading into 2025, while Maria Karystianou, the mother of one of the victims of the Tempi railway disaster, who has subsequently gone on to lead efforts for justice for the victims, appears to be gaining ground over former prime minister Alexis Tsipras among prospective new political parties, according to the poll.
The poll showed the farming subsidy scandal and protests over the deadly Tempi train crash rank as the most significant developments of the year, together accounting for more than half of responses. The OPEKEPE affair tops the list with 29.5%, followed by rallies over Tempe at 24.8%.
Support for other parties regarding voter intention is distributed as follows: Greek Solution 6.6%, the Communist Party (KKE) 5%, Foni Logikis 3.7%, MeRA25 3.3%, the Democracy Movement 3.2%, SYRIZA 3%, NIKI 1.1% and New Left 1.1%.
Farmers’ protests rank third at 13.9%, followed by Greece’s energy agreements on hydrocarbon exploration (8.8%) and the election of Kyriakos Pierrakakis as president of the Eurogroup (8.1%).
Among yet-to-be-formed political parties, Karystianou holds a clear lead, attracting 53% support—more than double the 23% recorded for a prospective party led by Tsipras.
A further 24% of respondents said they did not know or declined to answer, suggesting a significant share of the electorate remains cautious and undecided.
As for the figures of the year, Karystianou ranks first with 24.3%, followed by Zoe Konstantopoulou at 21.1%, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at 18.4% and Tsipras at 11%.
