A swearing-in ceremony was held on Saturday morning for the three new members of the government, following a mini reshuffle a day earlier amid the latest developments related to the agriculture subsidies scandal, the so-called OPEKEPE furor due to the acronym of the now disbanded state agency.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the Republic, Konstantinos Tasoulas, and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who selected the trio of new ministers.

Former EU vice-president and Commissioner Margaritis Schinas assumes the post rural development and food minister; Makarios Lazaridis takes on the duties of deputy minister, while Evangelos Tournas assumes the portfolio of climate crisis and civil protection.

Giannis Andrianos and Kostas Katsafados remain in their positions as deputy ministers in the farm ministry, respectively.
