Theodorikakos And Konstantopoulou Clash In Parliament

Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos and MP Zoe Konstantopoulou clash in Parliament over the democratic credentials of Voridis, Georgiadis and Plevris

“Ms. Konstantopoulou must apologize for the vile and false characterizations she reserved for three of my colleagues in my party, New Democracy: Mr. Voridis, Mr. Georgiadis and Mr. Plevris. All three are democratically elected members of Parliament, elected by the Greek people,” Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos said, responding to the attack launched by the president of Plefsi Eleftherias (Course of Freedom) against the three New Democracy officials.

“Ms. Konstantopoulou, you must stop the Goebbels-style propaganda and the doctrine of ‘keep saying it and something will stick. Something will stick to our PASOK colleagues, something will stick to our New Democracy colleagues,'” Theodorikakos said. He added that “in her imaginary world, Ms. Konstantopoulou is the national prosecutor and the national judge, and this has very little to do with democracy, the rational world and justice.”

He also remarked that “there is no justice at one’s own convenience, where New Democracy officials who are under investigation and whose immunity is requested to be lifted are guilty because they are New Democracy, while when the same happens to her, it is political expediency.”

Theodorikakos, who accused the Plefsi Eleftherias leader of “representing, with her Goebbels-style propaganda, a sick deep state,” also said: “Honestly, Ms. Konstantopoulou, if you ever meet my son one day, you will apologize to him, because you will realize that he has nothing whatsoever to do with all the lies and slanders you stated today. For these, I have taken legal action, my son has taken legal action and the then police chief has taken legal action. And you should wait, because the justice system has its own procedures, and whether we like them or not, we all must respect them. But you will not impose decisions on the Greek justice system.”

“Mr. Theodorikakos, you really cannot be serious in suggesting that I apologize to the axe-wielding agent and appointee of dictator Papadopoulos, Voridis, whom you want to install here as some kind of representative of democracy,” Zoe Konstantopoulou replied. She added that “Voridis is the Kasidiaris of his time” and that the Development Minister “cannot pretend not to know about Voridis’s Nazi, fascist attacks with axes on students.”

She also said the Development Minister cannot pretend not to know that Georgiadis has repeatedly voiced Holocaust denial theories. “Voridis, Georgiadis and Plevris are representatives here of junta mentalities, of antisemitism, of Holocaust denial, of denial of the Polytechnic dead. Don’t you know this? You should apologize to Greek society for bringing these remnants in here and trying to dress them in the cloak of democracy,” the Plefsi Eleftherias president said.
