Μake us preferred on Google Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’s speech at the opening of the 90th Thessaloniki International Fair is underway at the Ioannis Vellidis Conference Center.
The prime minister is expected to present economic measures for 2027, along with the government’s program through 2030, effectively opening the pre-election period, even if only informally.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the start of his speech that he was optimistic about the plan he was about to present. The prime minister stressed that he would not simply announce a set of measures, but instead present a plan built on three pillars, drawing on the government’s two previous terms as well as the term ahead.
The measures will form a roadmap through 2031. “It is time for our country to reap the fruits of its efforts — the strong foundations we have laid allow us to build the Greece of 2030,” he said.
The PM announced measures for freelance professionals and small and medium-sized enterprises from the podium:
- Presumptive income thresholds are being reduced for professionals with a consistent tax record: surcharges tied to turnover and staff payroll are being abolished.
- In settlements with fewer than 2,000 residents (2,900 in Central Macedonia): presumptive income thresholds cut in half.
For farmers and livestock breeders, professional farmers with an income of 20,000 euros will pay zero tax. The government also announced a full recovery plan for livestock farming, including additional EU funding and the restocking of all lost herds.
On energy and housing, Mitsotakis said the wholesale price of electricity would be gradually reduced by 30% between 2027 and 2029, with a 50% cut to public service compensation (YKO) charges on household bills starting January 2027.
He said ENFIA property tax would be abolished in settlements of up to 2,000 residents, up from the current threshold of 1,500, and up to 2,200 in Western Macedonia, up from 1,700, effective 2027.
He also announced a 2-billion-euro “My Home 3” program to be financed through the Hellenic Development Bank, alongside an increase in the property transfer tax from 3% to 15% for home purchases by non-EU citizens, such as buyers from China, Turkey and Israel.
Mitsotakis commented on the tragic deaths of the two F4 Phantom pilots during the Athens 2026 Flyweek at Tanagra airbase, expressing his condolences to the relatives of the deceased. He said, “The thoughts of all of us are with the families of the two pilots”.
