Greek authorities have arrested two Turkish nationals in the greater Athens area accused of drug, immigration and forgery offenses, as part of an ongoing police operation targeting Turkish criminal gangs operating in Greece.
The arrests were carried out by members of an organized crime task force, under an operational plan focusing on Turkish criminal groups active in the country.
Police seized 800 euros in cash and 2.04 grams of cannabis in a plastic bag during the search. Personal documents found in the possession of one of the suspects were also determined to be apparently forged.
The two suspects are expected to be brought before a relevant prosecutor.
The arrests are part of a broader Greek law enforcement effort targeting Turkish criminal gangs operating in Greece, which has included investigations into drug trafficking, forged documents and other organized-crime activity.
