A missing person case in Greece has ended in tragedy after a 25-year-old man was found dead several days after his disappearance from the Athens suburb of Marousi.
The young man, identified as Giorgos Kotsaftis, had been missing since January 12, 2026. His body was discovered late on Thursday evening, January 15, at a construction site in the nearby area of Agia Paraskevi.
The discovery was made by members of the volunteer search and rescue group Anubis, who had joined the efforts at the request of the family. The group announced the news through a social media post in the early hours of Friday.
According to initial information, the man’s death appears to have resulted from a fall. Greek authorities have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reports indicate that the 25-year-old had left his home driving a grey Toyota Avensis and had not contacted anyone afterward. Following his disappearance, a nationwide Missing Alert was issued, including a description of the clothes he was wearing on the day he was last seen.
In the days leading up to the discovery, the victim’s brother had also made a public appeal for help through social media, urging anyone with information to come forward.
