Greek coast guard teams rescued around 340 migrants from the waters south of Crete overnight, following seven separate operations between Thursday evening and early Friday morning.

The first boat, carrying approximately 55 people, was spotted 21 miles south of Gavdos around 4:00 a.m. and rescued with the support of Frontex aerial units. Another boat with 57 migrants was located 11 miles south of the same island around the same time.

Additional rescues occurred before 7:00 a.m., including boats carrying 32, 55, and 54 migrants at various distances south of Gavdos. All were brought safely to Karave port on Gavdos.

Later in the morning, two more boats were rescued: one with 48 migrants south of Heraklion, transferred to Kalo Limenes port, and another with 39 migrants 30 miles south of Agia Galini.
