Air Force Officer Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Crete

A 33-year-old Greek Air Force officer was killed in a motorcycle crash near the city of Chania on the island of Crete early on Monday.

According to the report, the fatal collision occurred on the ring road leading to Chania Airport, in the Pyrthari area, when the officer’s motorcycle collided with a garbage truck under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.

An ambulance rushed the seriously injured rider to Chania General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The Greek Air Force later confirmed the officer’s death in an official statement, identifying him as a second lieutenant serving at the 115 Combat Wing, based at Akrotiri near Chania.

The Air Force expressed its condolences to the officer’s family and loved ones following the fatal accident.
