Α second pool drowning incident involving a young child was reported on Tuesday, with a three-year-old girl from Britain left tragically brain dead after being pulled from a hotel pool on the island of Rhodes.

The shocking incident comes after a five-year-old boy from India, who was vacationing with his parents, was pulled unconscious from a hotel pool on the island of Santorini a week ago. Intense resuscitation efforts by first responders and hospital staff failed to revive him.

In the latest incident, hospital authorities on Rhodes announced the child’s irreversible condition in the afternoon.

As is standard procedure in such cases in Greece, the child’s uncle was arrested by police on a charge of failing to exercise proper parental or custodial care. A manager at the hotel was also arrested.

At press time, the toddler remained intubated.
