Attica Aenaon Park Project Gets Green Light

Once completed, the seaside park in the Athens suburb of Faliro is expected to welcome over 4 million visitors a year

The Aenaon Park project, one of the largest urban regeneration projects planned for Attica, has received the green light from Greece’s Court of Auditors, paving the way for construction of the new multipurpose park in the seaside suburb of Faliro, south of Athens.

Attica Region Governor Nikos Hardalias announced this week that the contract for the project is expected to be signed on September 2, 2026, with completion now scheduled for the second half of 2029. The timetable is later than the original 2028 completion target announced last year.

“The project is now moving forward,” Hardalias said, reiterating the Region of Attica’s commitment to signing the contract this fall. “This is the moment we’ve all been waiting for. A 40-year dream is beginning to take shape,” he said.

The park, to serve as a major new green space for recreation, culture and leisure, will be developed by the Terna-Metka-Iliohora-Elemka group of companies.

Once completed, the seaside park is expected to welcome more than 4 million visitors a year. The Aenaon Park will include thousands of trees and shrubs, pedestrian walkways, bike paths, recreation and entertainment areas, a marina, outdoor sports facilities (including tennis courts, soccer fields, and beach volleyball courts), and open-air cinemas. Construction and landscaping will incorporate sustainable solutions, ensuring the park is environmentally friendly. Admission to the park will be free.
