A driver was injured after an all-terrain vehicle (ATV), commonly known in Greece as a “quad bike,” veered off the road on the Greek island of Zakynthos.
The accident occurred on the Xygia–Alykes road when the ATV left the roadway under circumstances that remain under investigation.
The injured driver was taken by ambulance to Zakynthos General Hospital.
Firefighters assisted in recovering the driver from the location where the vehicle came to rest, with 10 firefighters and five vehicles deployed to the scene.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
British tourist remains in critical condition
The latest accident comes as a 20-year-old British tourist continues to fight for his life following a separate ATV crash in the Laganas resort area of Zakynthos.
The young man was seriously injured after the quad bike he was driving collided with a bus on the area’s main road.
Due to the severity of his injuries, he was airlifted to KAT Hospital in Athens, where he remains in a coma in extremely critical condition.
According to the report, his mother travelled from the United Kingdom to be by his side.
Local residents and doctors told the publication that ATV accidents are more common on the island than crashes involving scooters or other types of vehicles.
