A tragic accident occurred early Thursday in the village of Damasi, near Larissa, where a 49-year-old bakery employee lost her life while at work which involved a dough-kneading machine.

According to initial reports, the woman became trapped in a piece of machinery under circumstances still under investigation. Local media reported that her hair became entangled in the dough mixer, causing fatal injuries.

Emergency Response Efforts Failed to Save Her

According to local reports, the woman, a mother of two, was cleaning the machine when her scarf became caught in its mechanisms. The incident is believed to have occurred just before preparations for the day’s baking were set to begin.

The woman had recently suffered the loss of her own mother, adding to the personal tragedy.

She was found unconscious by a bakery customer who, after not receiving a response, went to the back of the shop. Emergency medical services were called immediately, but despite their best efforts, she could not be revived.

Workplace Safety Under Scrutiny

The incident has shocked the local community and renewed concerns about workplace safety standards in small businesses across Greece. Authorities are expected to determine whether safety procedures were properly followed and if the equipment met regulatory requirements.

The bakery remains closed as the investigation continues.
