A striking celestial event was captured over northern Greece when a meteor lit up the sky above the village of Palaios Agios Athanasios in the region of Pella. The impressive sight was recorded by a security camera, offering a clear view of the bright streak as it passed over the settlement.

According to the footage, the meteor remained visible for roughly six seconds before fading from view. In astronomy, the term meteor refers to the bright phenomenon produced when a meteoroid — a rocky object ranging from a few millimeters to several meters in size — enters Earth’s atmosphere and burns up due to friction.
