Drug Ring on Mykonos Busted, Six Arrested

Greek police dismantled a drug trafficking network operating under the cover of a tourist transport company in Mykonos, arresting six suspects and seizing over five kilograms of narcotics

The Organized Crime Unit of the Hellenic Police (DAOE – Directorate for Combating Organized Crime) carried out a major operation on Mykonos aimed at dismantling a drug trafficking network, resulting in the arrest of six individuals.

Police conducted coordinated raids on the island, where five suspects were detained, while a sixth was arrested in the wider Attica region near Athens.

According to information, authorities had been monitoring a 59-year-old Albanian national for some time, previously known to law enforcement for drug-related cases, who had reportedly moved from Athens to Mykonos.

How the operation worked

On the island, the suspect established a tourist transport company operating vans, which investigators believe was used as a front for illegal activity. Evidence gathered by authorities suggests that the 59-year-old, along with five accomplices—including two drivers employed by his company, his partner, and two additional associates—flooded the island with a wide range of narcotics.

A large-scale police operation was then launched, with officers raiding both the 59-year-old’s residence on Mykonos and his partner’s home in Athens. The investigation revealed that drugs were hidden in virtually every conceivable location inside the properties, including inside shoes and behind a refrigerator.

More than five kilograms of narcotic substances were seized, including cocaine, pink cocaine, ketamine, crystal methamphetamine, and cannabis. The drugs were reportedly transported from Albania to Athens and then, from Athens to Mykonos using vans belonging to the suspect’s transport company.

Among those arrested were the two company drivers, while police seized three to four vehicles used in the operation.

The six suspects are expected to appear before the Syros Prosecutor on Thursday.
