Weather conditions are set to shift in the coming days, as African dust gradually clears and gives way to cloudier skies and scattered rainfall.
On Sunday, light rain is expected in northern and island regions, while cloud cover will expand across mainland areas by midday. Weak snowfall may occur in mountainous regions at higher altitudes. Despite the unsettled conditions, air quality is expected to improve as dust levels drop.
Temperatures will remain relatively stable, ranging between 13°C and 15°C in most areas. Warmer conditions are expected in western parts of the country and southern island regions, where highs could reach 17°C to 18°C.
Winds will vary by region, with light to moderate easterlies in western coastal areas and stronger northerly winds over the Aegean, reaching up to 6 on the Beaufort scale.
In the capital, the day will begin with sunshine before clouds gradually build, at times becoming denser. Temperatures will range from 9°C to 15°C, with moderate northerly winds. Similar conditions are expected in the country’s second-largest city, where intermittent cloud cover will develop throughout the day.
Looking ahead, the start of the new week will bring similar weather patterns. On Monday, light rain is forecast in eastern and southern areas, with showers spreading to more mainland regions later in the day. Temperatures will remain mild, reaching around 15°C to 17°C.
By Tuesday, rainfall is expected to become more widespread, particularly in eastern and southern parts, where conditions may intensify. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible in southern island regions. Temperatures will see little change, staying close to seasonal averages, while winds in the Aegean may strengthen further, reaching up to 7 Beaufort.
