After days of heavy rain and severe weather that affected parts of Greece, including Lesvos and Preveza, the country is now entering a period of calm — and, according to early forecasts, Christmas may bring fair weather and sunshine.
Meteorologist Georgios Tsatrafyllis shared the first long-range forecast for the holiday season, suggesting that temperatures during December and Christmas week could be one to five degrees Celsius higher than average for the time of year.
No major cold fronts or storms are expected in the coming weeks, with only light or scattered rain predicted in western Greece, Thrace, the eastern Aegean islands, and the Dodecanese. The rest of the country is likely to enjoy dry and relatively warm conditions.
However, Tsatrafyllis cautioned that seasonal forecasts are based on trends and probabilities rather than certainties, as weather patterns can shift closer to the date. Still, the early outlook offers hope for a bright and mild Christmas across much of Greece.
