Travel costs for Easter 2026 in Greece are shaping up to influence holiday plans, with rising ferry fares and accommodation prices encouraging more travelers to choose nearby destinations instead of island trips.
From the traditional stone paths of the Aegean islands to mountain landscapes and coastal towns on the mainland, the Easter holiday remains one of the most important travel periods in Greece, blending religious observance with domestic tourism.
However, new figures show that transportation and accommodation expenses are playing a key role in destination choices this year.
Island travel costs and demand
For a family of four travelling round-trip, ferry and transport costs vary significantly depending on the destination.
A trip to Corfu is estimated at around €324 in total. This includes ferry transport combined with car travel via the mainland port of Igoumenitsa, along with fuel and toll costs. Occupancy levels on routes to the island are already reported at up to 85%.
Travel to Chios is priced at approximately €196 for a family of four, with occupancy rates between 75% and 80%, while a trip to Syros costs around €186, with similar demand levels.
The island of Spetses shows slightly different pricing dynamics, with ferry and transport costs estimated at €200 from Piraeus or €112 when combining road travel to Kosta with a short water taxi crossing. Occupancy is reported between 70% and 75%.
Mainland destinations gaining popularity
Road-accessible destinations are proving increasingly attractive this Easter season, with lower overall transport costs contributing to demand.
A round-trip journey from Athens to Kalamata is estimated at €106 for tolls and fuel. Around half of local hotels are already open, with occupancy reaching approximately 75%. Accommodation prices for a family of four start from €120 to €140 per night with breakfast.
Trips from Athens to Pelion are estimated at €160 for transport costs, with occupancy around 70%. Hotel prices begin at approximately €130 per night for four people.
Meanwhile, travel from Athens to Nafpaktos costs around €128, with occupancy reaching 80% and accommodation prices starting at €135 per night.
