An 86-year-old man drowned on Tuesday afternoon off the coast of Halkidiki, northern Greece.
Authorities said the man was discovered unresponsive in the water near the Gyalaki–Pyrgadakia beach area. He was pulled ashore and taken by ambulance to the Agios Nikolaos Health Center, where doctors confirmed his death.
The Port Authority of Ormos Panagias has launched an investigation into the incident and has ordered an autopsy to be conducted by the Thessaloniki Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of death.
Earlier this week, a 92-year-old man was found dead in the port area of Alexandroupoli. His body was taken to the General Hospital of Amfissa for a forensic examination to determine the cause of death.
