A 71-year-old Bulgarian woman was found unresponsive in the sea near the coastal area of Nikiti, a popular summer destination in the region of Halkidiki, northern Greece. The incident occurred midday on Saturday, July 12.
Authorities from the Third Port Authority of Neos Marmaras, under the jurisdiction of the Ierissos Port Authority, were immediately notified about the incident.
The woman was transported by ambulance to the Health Centre of Agios Nikolaos, where medical personnel confirmed her death.
An investigation is currently underway by the Neos Marmaras port authorities to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. The body is expected to be transferred to the Forensic and Toxicology Laboratory of Diavata for a post-mortem examination.
