Unions representing workers at the Athens metro organization have called a work stoppage for Tuesday evening, beginning at 10 p.m. until the end of the shift. The industrial action also affects the electric train line (ISAP) and the tram  network in the greater Athens-Piraeus area.

Unions are demanding a new inter-ministerial decision for their sector and adherence to all articles in a collective bargaining agreement that they claim are not being applied.

Union leaders also claimed that their repeatedly requests towards the ministry have been ignored.

Conversely, public opinion often reacts negatively to such sudden strikes in mass transit systems, especially in the Greek capital.
