The scheduled exhumation of the late Dennis Ruci, son of Panos Ruci, has been postponed until Thursday following a new order that allows the family’s technical consultant to be present during the procedure.
According to Panos Ruci, the technical expert—who will arrive from abroad—will supervise every stage of the process, from the exhumation itself to the toxicological and biochemical analyses on his son’s remains. The samples taken during these examinations are expected to be sent abroad for further testing.
New Police Procedures and Next Steps
Authorities are expected to issue a new document asking the family to specify which types of examinations they wish to conduct on the remains. The family will also be formally asked to appoint their own technical consultant to participate in the procedure.
According to the preliminary investigation being carried out by the police, the exhumation will be attended by law enforcement officers, a representative of the Forensic Investigations Directorate, a state-appointed medical examiner, and the family’s consultant.
Ruci Remains at Syntagma Square
Despite having ended his hunger strike, Panos Ruci continues to stay at Syntagma Square in central Athens, where he has been protesting for several days. An ambulance remains stationed nearby, as emergency services were instructed to be on standby due to his fragile condition.
Ruci has invited supporters to gather at 6:00 p.m. today at Syntagma Square to express his gratitude for the solidarity shown to him throughout his ordeal. Following this gathering, he is expected to return home.
