A passenger flight traveling from the United Kingdom to Egypt was forced to make an emergency landing at Heraklion’s Nikos Kazantzakis Airport after a disruptive passenger caused significant unrest onboard.

According to reports, the 38-year-old British woman was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. During the flight, she reportedly became increasingly agitated, shouting and disturbing both the crew and fellow passengers. Attempts by the flight attendants to calm her proved unsuccessful.

With no other option, the pilot coordinated with Heraklion air traffic control and conducted a forced landing to safely remove the passenger from the aircraft.

Instead of continuing to Egypt, the woman will now face the Greek judicial system. She had been traveling with her husband and child, planning a holiday in Egypt.

Authorities confirmed that the incident was handled swiftly, and no other passengers were harmed during the diversion.
