In a move to strengthen gender equality initiatives and expand psychological support services across Greek universities,  the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance has approved the inclusion of three additional institutions in the EU-funded program “Human Resources and Social Cohesion 2021–2027”. The newly added actions, totaling 800,000 euros, follow an earlier call to the country’s 25 higher-education institutions.

The universities receiving funding are:

Technical University of Crete – 500,000 euros
Hellenic Open University – 300,000 euros
School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE) – 250,000 euros

What the Program Delivers

Under the initiative, participating universities will implement a series of measures designed to promote equality and support student wellbeing. These include:

• Establishing and operating dedicated offices to support Gender Equality and Anti-Discrimination Committees.
• Developing innovative administrative and workplace practices that foster an inclusive, gender-sensitive culture.
• Collecting gender-related data on the academic community, promoting inclusive language, and integrating gender perspectives into curricula.
• Producing guides and toolkits to support equality initiatives.
• Encouraging balanced gender representation in university decision-making bodies and ensuring equal career advancement opportunities for women and men across academic ranks.
• Launching targeted actions to combat sexual violence and harassment.

The program, with a total public budget of 12 million euros , already includes eight universities. The submission, evaluation, and approval process continues for the remaining institutions across the country.
