Big changes are on the horizon for Greece’s driving theory exams, as a brand-new computerized examination system is set to roll out by the end of 2025.

According to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the updated system will be supported by upgraded hardware and network infrastructure. A key feature is the “isolation” of exam computers, which will only connect securely to the central server, preventing any unauthorized access and ensuring the integrity of the testing process.

The reform promises a more secure, efficient, and transparent process for aspiring drivers. Among the main improvements:

• Centralized Management: A unified system will replace isolated workstations, coordinating exam rooms across the country.
• Automation: Manual input of candidate data via USB sticks and spreadsheets will be eliminated, as the system will automatically retrieve schedules and personal details.
• Identity Verification: Candidates’ digital photos will appear instantly, ensuring accurate identification.
• Real-Time Updates: Test results will be immediately transferred to each candidate’s digital driving record, reducing delays.
• Instant Notifications: Candidates will receive their results via email and SMS as soon as their evaluation is complete.
• Modern Technology: The exams will run on updated software and operating systems with stronger security and stability.
• Enhanced Security: Multiple safeguards will protect the fairness of the testing process.
• Offline Capability: Exams can continue even if the network goes down, with results stored and sent later.

The new system not only modernizes the exam procedure but also raises the bar for reliability and safety, ensuring a smoother path for future drivers.
