Kalamata Femicide Victim Had Told Friends of Abuse

New details reveal the victim had confided fears of abuse and jealousy before being killed by her husband, as investigators examine missed warning signs and prior contacts with authorities

New revelations are coming to light in the femicide case in Kalamata, a city in southern Greece, where a man murdered his 39-year-old wife, a crime that has deeply shaken the local community.

According to newer information, the victim had confided in friends from her dance school about the problems she was facing at home, describing pathological jealousy, severe tensions, and incidents of physical abuse by her partner.

She had reportedly warned them that if she ever failed to show up for class, it would mean she was going through extremely difficult conditions at home.

When her classmates noticed her absence, they immediately alerted the police, prompting an investigation to locate her.

Although authorities stated that no official complaint for domestic violence had been filed, police officers had previously visited the family home following related information.

At that time, the woman reportedly denied providing further details, but according to sources, the incident had been recorded.

In addition, she had also turned to the Counseling Center of Kalamata, seeking both legal assistance and support in order to escape the difficult situation she was experiencing.

The funeral of the 39-year-old woman will take place on Wednesday, while the 41-year-old suspect is expected to give his testimony before investigators on Thursday.
