Police found a gun, 89 rounds, a knife, and fireworks at his home and car in Plomari

A tense night in Plomari ended with the arrest of a man and the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, and fireworks, police say.

The incident took place on the night of July 15 into July 16, when the man set off and threw a firework inside a food service establishment while minors were present at the scene.

He then insulted and threatened a woman, prompting officers from the Plomari Police Department to respond immediately.

A confrontation with police as well

According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, the man refused to comply with their instructions. He’s also accused of insulting and threatening one of the officers while filming him on his phone.

A short time later, he called the Plomari Police Department and, according to the police statement, once again insulted and threatened officers over the phone.

The searches and what was found

The case took a new turn when searches were carried out, in the presence of a judicial officer, at the man’s residences in the wider Plomari area as well as in his car.

During the searches, officers located and seized a hunting rifle, 89 rounds of ammunition, a knife, a pocketknife, a non functioning revolver, and 11 fireworks. Investigators also found hunting weapon permits.

A case file has been opened against the man for violations of firearms, flare, and fireworks laws, as well as for resisting police orders, insults, and threats. The Plomari Police Department is handling the preliminary investigation.
